Youlgrave Village Show

Saturday 14th September 2024: The streets were alive early Saturday morning, full of smiling people carrying produce. After a 10-year break, Youlgrave Show was back!

With all the competitive tension, excitement and demonstration of the many talents our small village holds. Even down to the weird vegetables! The cafe was full of chatter and Dawn’s great cakes. Crafted pens, garments, children’s entries, jams and cakes and produce were admired and judged. And the usual crowning glory of the Show was, as always, Dougie doing the auction in his inimitable way (but fewer marrows this year it seemed!).

All the participation and efforts of very dynamic and enthusiastic volunteers made this an exceptional day. There has been lots of great feedback, some saying it was like stepping into an episode of The Archers, and comments on what other classes people might like to see – including ‘holiest cabbage’, ‘biggest failure’ and a more general cake class. If you’d like to be involved in the planning for 2025 please get in touch at youlgraveshow@outlook.com.

Roll on next year!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help out in, either in the run-up to the big day or covering particular tasks over the Show weekend. Please get in touch if you would like to help out in future Shows.

The Schedule with this year’s classes is shown below, as well as the event timetable and rules.

If you want to contact the Show’s organising group or help out in any way please email youlgraveshow@outlook.com or call Edwina Cant on 07772 019385.
