The wooden pavilion at Alport Lane Playing Fields has reached end of life and is unfit for modern purposes due to its small size for both users and storage and its basic toilet and shower facilities. Following discussions with the Cricket and Football clubs it was agreed that we need to replace it and to encompass other sports and club users of the field and Council undertook some initial looks at similar replacements locally and arrived after local consultation with a wishlist. For the major investment and absolute need for grants to achieve a new pavilion, Council resolved to commit its funds to engage fund raiser, architect and quantity surveyor professionals to create the bid.

Phase 1 – following 3 meetings on site, a questionnaire was created and online and paper copies received by 17th October to gather initial views from parishioners and users. The architect drew up plans from these discussions and assessed the pros and cons of where to site a new pavilion with an extension of the existing location drawn up for view at a public meeting in the old pavilion on Saturday 19th October 11am to 1pm.

The plans are available to view here:

Results of the Survey will be published shortly and comments from the open viewing incorporated into the drawings to create an outline that can be costed. Once this has been done the fund raising will commence.
